If not closed in time, they can cause continuous leaks, spreading fires, and even explosions.#Manual valve operation is time-consuming and risky, especially in high-temperature, toxic, and low-visibility environments. Inspired by a chainsaw repair, the R&D team designed a portable electric valve actuator. Combining chain, gear, and power tool features, the device offers: Fully enclosed design with corrosion-resistant, high-strength materials Precision gears for smooth power transmission Compact and stable structure Lightweight design with enhanced adaptability Overload protection and auto shut-off in case of valve jamming Despite limited resources and outdated equipment, the team overcame challenges and successfully built the tool using repurposed materials. The actuator is suitable for globe valves up to DN400 and can open a valve in just one minute—four times faster than manual operation. Proven effective in the field, the tool is easy to carry, fast, accurate, and reduces rescue workers' exposure to danger. Looking ahead, Jilin Petrochemical plans to expand its use to larger valves, adopt advanced materials and lithium battery technology, and integrate explosion-proof designs to ensure safe operation in hazardous environments.
